I also wanted to ask what a ground timer is. Is it measured in seconds? Or 5 seconds? Or minutes? And is this the time the UFO will spend on what? The time it spends landing on the ground/underwater (in the TFTD) when it glows green? Or is this the flight time between waypoints on its trajectory? And if this is the flight time between waypoints on the trajectory, then from which point on the trajectory to which?

UFO waves

I'm pretty sure some of those numbers are off. If the timer refers to the countdown to the UFOs on the same line, then it gives one extra UFO in all the flotillas (e.g. if the countdown for the second Large Scout in an infiltration mission was only 60, then the flotilla would be Large Scout 1 + Large Scout 2 + Terror Ship + Supply Ship + Battleship + Battleship, where in fact Large Scout 1 is not part of the flotilla and there is a significant wait between Large Scout 1 and Large Scout 2; similarly, it predicts a flotilla of 3 Abductors when there are in fact only 2 and a Medium Scout in the Base flotilla). However, if it refers to the UFO on the following line, then the countdown for the first UFO is not listed and the countdown on the same line as the last UFO doesn't refer to anything. Regarding the above: it's off by one. The times listed with each UFO are what to poke into MISSIONS.DAT when spawning that UFO - i.e. the timer for the next UFO. The countdown for the first UFO isn't stored with the rest of the mission data, and is probably off with the mission generation algorithm. Magic9mushroom (talk) 08:56, 31 August 2019 (CEST)

Keep in mind that I wrote this article based in OpenXCom and the settings it uses. I felt tempted to just rewriting the whole page on the original game's Alien Missions but I realized that there might be differences between the original and OXC. So I just wrote the page to give a general overview and specifically for OXC modders, although it can also be used to understand how the original system works. The numbers here were also there. But the numbers there were wrong, and I fixed them. Magic9mushroom (talk) 15:17, 8 September 2019 (CEST)
Great to hear then. Do you think it's necessary or relevant to reproduce the content on this page in the relevant Enemy Unknown section?Hobbes (talk) 18:18, 8 September 2019 (CEST)

Error Alien missions

Hello. Thank you for improving such a fine old game. But I'd like to ask why you changed the missions?

I played the original XCOM TFTD a week ago and I know the missions and their contents perfectly,. In the original game, three hunters would fly in for a resource raid mission. You assigned three heavy cruisers to this same mission—why? Or did you accidentally miss that?

The same goes for the Interdiction mission—in the original game, two heavy cruisers would fly in, but you've now assigned two hunters...

And another change I don't understand: for the Alien base mission, the escort, which arrived second after the survey ship, arrived long before the huge number of other alien ships. You've now changed it so that the escort arrives along with the huge crowd. So, the crowd now has one more alien ship. Is that also a bug? Or did you miss that? Or was that an accident?

Ground Timer

I also wanted to ask what a ground timer is. Is it measured in seconds? Or 5 seconds? Or minutes? And is this the time the UFO will spend on what? The time it spends landing on the ground/underwater (in the TFTD) when it glows green? Or is this the flight time between waypoints on its trajectory? And if this is the flight time between waypoints on the trajectory, then from which point on the trajectory to which?
