The Plasma Turret Cannon is a powerful weapon, but lacks the ability to track and hit fast airborne vehicles.  From: Apocalypse Ufopaedia

A cannon suited only to the Griffon AFV. An Elerium based, accurate and fast firing plasma cannon which has full 360º targeting.
