The animalistic, clawed Sirens are dangerous combatants, combining an agile body with Reticulan reflexes. Still, they're sort-of failed experiments in the Reticulan drive to create a Reticulan-compatible female who would free their race from the reliance on ancient cloning machines. It seems that the Reticulans succeeded with the task - to a degree. The human-reticulan hybrids who are actually able to reproduce (as well as other female slaves, who can always serve as natural replacement for artificial wombs), are well-guarded and cared for. The Sirens, despite their looks, aren't capable of reproduction but are well-suited for collecting 'gene samples' from all over the place, and thus can be interrogated for the knowledge of far-off lands. |
