Increases research speed by increasing the effectiveness of your scientists, and can benefit from adjacency bonus with the Genetics Lab or Psionic Labs. Each new lab requires a larger compliment of scientists on staff.

Attention, unlike the original game, the Laboratory does not provide new scientists.
