The ADVENT Shieldbearer is a variation on the ADVENT Trooper with a more defensive focus. They have more armour than a regular Trooper and have the ability to shield themselves and nearby allies, giving them extra health. Killing the Shieldbearer will destroy the shields they're generating on any nearby units as well.
