Laser Pistol (Bureau)

The default pistol for Sectoids, once it becomes "unlocked", it is a significant support weapon. Since you will be encountering many Sectoids (which start with carrying this weapon), it's safe to pick one up and not worry too much about running out of ammo.

It can be first acquired in one of the first set of Minor Operations, such as Codebreaker.

It has a slightly faster firing rate than the Pistol.
