Former ADVENT soldiers can be recruited in Ted Jam to join XCOM in the war against their former masters. They bring their specialized training and weaponry to the field, unlike the Alien Defectors, Advent personnel being hybrids lets them blend in with XCOM soldiers better and they can all be trained to be officers, their resemblance to humans also lets XCOM genetically modify them in the infirmary. Acquired through special covert operations, these soldiers can bolster XCOM's ranks with firepower, versatility and powerful support abilities.

Recruitment

Gatecrasher

One ADVENT Defector is always present on Gatecrasher and is part of XCOM at the start of the campaign. All ADVENT Defectors are eligible to be given out Gatecrasher and ADVENT Defectors no do not have force level requirements.

Covert Operation

More can be acquired in the same style as Alien Defectors through a seperate covert operation. Without any force level requirements, anyone can be awarded through it

  • Duplicates are not allowed unless you already have all of them on the Avenger already, the covert operation will always give you someone you do not have already
  • This covert operation cannot fail and does not require any faction influence, intel can also be paid to make the covert operation impossible to ambush. Due to incapable of failure, XCOM can send low-ranking soldiers, or even BU's to do it.

Compared to XCOM soldiers

  • ADVENT Defectors have their own weapons and armor, they do not share the same armor or weapons as XCOM units.
  • ADVENT Defectors have limited weapon selection with no alternatives.
  • Only certain ADVENT Defectors share equipment, but their weapons and armor are cheaper to make when compared to XCOM versions.
    • Some of the advanced weapons do not cost a corpse to make, just cores and an autopsy.
  • ADVENT Defectors can only be gained through covert operations, making them harder to replace if they were to fall in battle.
  • ADVENT Defectors cannot be turned in to MEC soldiers
  • Raptor and Priest are psionic units, but they do not require Psi Lab to train, just experience as they rank up as normal units.
  • ADVENT Defectors gain baseline armor at certain rank thresholds and some scale their perks with armor tier
  • ADVENT Defectors cannot learn pistol perks

Compared to Alien Defectors

  • ADVENT Defectors can all be gene-modded in the infirmary
  • ADVENT Defectors can all become officers
  • ADVENT Defectors can use all utility slot items XCOM has
  • ADVENT Defectors can all be bonded
  • ADVENT Defectors do not generally start with immunities, they gain their respective immunity through armor upgrades at plated armor tier
  • ADVENT Defectors are all capable of hacking objectives
  • ADVENT Defectors do not have access to Synergy Weapons or any alternative weapons.
  • ADVENT Defectors do not have force level requirements, every single type of them can be acquired at any point in the campaign.
  • ADVENT Defectors can all hunker down
