Generally, signatures should be added to the end of a post, not the beginning. In addition, posts to the main page should not be signed(outside of designated debate pages). The signed posts that are in main factual articles are so old they've been grandfathered in, or are in labeled opinion sections of the pages. Your comment to [[Psionics]] was useful as in the latter case, whereas your addition to [[Sectopod]] (and likely the entire discussion) properly belongs on the talk page.
