			News from the Obscure Research Division:

			It turns out that you do not need Laser Weapons technology to use or fire any laser weapon; nor do you need Medkit technology to use a Medkit or Motion Scanner technology to use a Motion Scanner. This is extremely handy, should a consignment of Laser Rifles accidentally happen to (ahem) fall through a time warp from the near future, into the General Stores of your starter base.

			Similarly, use of Personal Armour does not require the eponymous technology. I did not check, but that's probably true for all armour types.

			There must be something essentially familiar about human technology that allows us to use it easily, even if we don't understand its principles of operation - unlike Alien technology which must be extensively studied before even basic operation is possible. Or, er, basic throwing.
