The sonic defence module is a [[Base Defense Measures|defense measure]] that launches sonic attacks against an incoming retaliation ship (an alien [[Dreadnought]]). 

It is the end result of sonic based research.

While the increase in power over the [[Gauss Defences]] is proportional to the increase in initial cost, maintenance is only marginally more expensive.
