It is the longer range counterpart to the '''[[Heavy Laser/Auto (Hardmode)|Heavy Laser/Auto]]'''. Researching this will grant insights into the interceptor '''[[Laser Cannon (Hardmode) | Laser Cannon]]'''.

Functionality wise this weapon is a redesign of the vanilla '''[[Heavy Laser]]'''. It's improvements are a higher base damage of 100 power, higher innate accuracy when firing with a slightly more generous time unit usage when firing. The weapon is ostensibly intended as a mid to long range weapon and is best suited for those circumstances, and soldiers with high innate accuracy will benefit greatly from the weapons accuracy bonuses. 

The weapon suffers from poor close range combat usability, its snapshot and aimed modes lose accuracy against close range enemies, and it cannot output a significant amount of shots due to a lack of an auto-fire mode. It is also a heavy weapon to wield.
