The Sectoid hierarchy ranges from soldiers to leaders with powerful [[Psionics|psionic abilities]]. These psionic powers can be used to demoralise soldiers in combat, or even take control of their minds.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
They tend to indulge in human abductions and cattle mutilation. The abduction is used to extract genetic material for cross breeding and developing clones for infiltrating human society. The cattle provide both nutrition and genetic material.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This race appears to want to develop superior genetic hybrids to increase the efficiency of their hive-like society.&lt;br /&gt;

Sectoids look like the stereotypical alien abductor - skinny, grey and with big black eyes. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Sectoids are usually the first alien species a Commander will come across. They are lightly armoured and will usually go down after taking one or two direct hits with standard Earth pistols and rifles.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Though weak, high ranking sectoids such as the Leaders and Commanders have the ability to use [[psionics]] to mentally attack and disrupt the activities of [[X-COM]] squads. Just one Sectoid with psi powers can be a deadly threat to even the toughest of squads if there are any weak links in their mental defences. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This race is often involved in [[Terror Mission|terror attacks]] and is supported in these endeavours by the [[Cyberdisc]].&lt;br /&gt;

Capturing a Sectoid  Leader or Commander will allow R&amp;amp;D to further their research into the field of [[psionics]]. An [[Ethereal]] of any rank will also allow this. &lt;br /&gt;

The autopsy reveals vestigial digestive organs and a simple structure. The brain and eyes are very well developed. The structure suggests genetic alteration or mutation.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;The small mouth and nose appear to have little function. The webbing between the fingers and the flat feet suggest aquatic origins.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;There are no reproductive organs and no clues as to how this species can reproduce. They are most probably a genetically engineered species.&lt;br /&gt;

The Floaters are primarily soldiers and terror agents.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
They are naturally predatory beasts, genetically engineered and cybernetically enhanced to make formidable warriors. The lower half of the body and most internal organs are surgically removed, and a life support system is installed.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This implant contains an anti-gravity unit which enables the creature to float, albeit unsteadily, through the air.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
Appearing as pink humanoids with their lower half replaced by a mechanical system, the &#039;&#039; &#039;Floaters&#039; &#039;&#039; are weak alien creatures that, as their name suggests, are capable of flying throughout the air.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Unlike [[Sectoid]]s, who can be very dangerous when accompanied by [[Cyberdisk]]s in terror missions and / or have Sectoid Leaders or Commanders in certain alien ships or missions, Floaters are not excessively dangerous. Their main tactical advantage in combat is their ability to fly, which allows them to be placed in positions of snipers along rooftops or allows them to ambush soldiers by hiding on the ceiling, although they very rarely seem to do this.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The Floaters are found frequently during the early months of the invasion, conducting alien exploration missions or acting as terrorists within [[Terror Mission]]s, accompanied in the latter case by [[Reaper]]s.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Floaters are one of the most common alien race X-Com encounters throughout the game.&lt;br /&gt;

The creature has been drastically altered by surgery. The device which seems to form the core of the body is a life support system, taking over the function of heart, lungs and digestive system.&lt;br /&gt;

This would enable the creature to survive in extremely hostile environments. The brain is smaller than ours, but the sensory organs are well developed.&lt;br /&gt;

The following are some miscellaneous notes on the Floater:&lt;br /&gt;
* The Floater takes 1.2x damage from melee attacks, and 1.6x damage from a Celatid&#039;s acid spit.&lt;br /&gt;
* Average Energy.&lt;br /&gt;
* Is slow (low TUs).&lt;br /&gt;
* Low Health.&lt;br /&gt;
* Low Reactions.&lt;br /&gt;
* Low Strength.&lt;br /&gt;
* Low Psi Strength.&lt;br /&gt;
* Very low Firing and Throwing Accuracy.&lt;br /&gt;
* Rank matters when fighting Floaters. Floater Leaders and Commanders have much better stats than the other ranks, especially concerning [[Firing Accuracy|Firing]], [[Reactions|Reactions]] and Armor. This can lead to some unpleasant surprises when those ranks are present but it is also a way to figure out the higher ranks if you don&#039;t have a [[Mind Probe|Mind Probe]].&lt;br /&gt;

ADVENT Troopers are the most common ADVENT soldiers deployed within [[XCOM 2]], first appearing at the beginning of the game and continuing to appear throughout the entire campaign as the basic first-response unit of ADVENT.&lt;br /&gt;

Supposedly once human volunteers, ADVENT Troopers are revealed to be hybridized with alien DNA, giving them undeniably inhuman facial features and orange blood; with their faces concealed by carefully-designed helmets, they pass for human among the city population. Equipped with gray-black armor and a high-powered magnetic rifle, ADVENT Troopers are a common sight inside and outside ADVENT-controlled areas.&lt;br /&gt;

ADVENT Troopers will perform basic tactical movements such as flanking, covering one another, and firing on targets of opportunity. Unlike other ADVENT specialists such as the ADVENT Captain or Shieldbearer, more than one Trooper can appear in a patrol. Later, Advanced and Elite Troopers will be equipped with grenades, using them whenever the opportunity presents itself.&lt;br /&gt;

ADVENT Troopers fulfill the role of the standard footsoldier for ADVENT, though with their unimpressive stats, they are easily taken out when alone; however, ADVENT Troopers will never be alone, often appearing with ADVENT Officers or MECS, and occasionally with aliens such as the [[Viper (XCOM2)|Viper]] or [[Muton (XCOM2)|Muton]] leading them.&lt;br /&gt;

As opposed to the [[Sectoid (EU2012)|Sectoids]] of the original invasion, ADVENT Troopers will receive upgrades as the campaign progresses; they will be upgraded to Advanced Troopers at first, then Elite Troopers, being granted more HP and more damaging weapons throughout.&lt;br /&gt;

ADVENT Troopers lack the special abilities of other enemy units. Though this may seem positive, ADVENT Troopers are most likely to fire upon a soldier, or use Overwatch to cover their line of sight. Other ADVENT specialists will use their turns to activate their ability; Troopers will use their turns to apply pressure and to act as a distraction.&lt;br /&gt;

Early ADVENT Troopers have an average Aim stat of 65, often missing XCOM soldiers in high cover and occasionally missing those in low cover, but when appearing with an [[ADVENT Officer (XCOM2)|ADVENT Officer]], they gain +10 Aim towards a Marked soldier, and focus fire towards that soldier, often leading to an XCOM death.&lt;br /&gt;
